&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;Nicols&lt;/span&gt; is a industrial designer &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;whos&lt;/span&gt; background experience includes jewellery design,Bauhaus theories and metal &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3"&gt;smithing&lt;/span&gt; which is very recognisable in his work today. His method of design starts with sketches of his ideas and basic layout which helps his design process. &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4"&gt;Rohan&lt;/span&gt; at current produces ordered works rather then on a mass produced level. Each work is handmade by &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5"&gt;Nicols&lt;/span&gt;,from creating the moulds to assembling them. Although his projects usually do not have many parts to them. They are very &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6"&gt;ingenius&lt;/span&gt; designs with singular cords that encompass the item so there is practically no seams and latches.&lt;br /&gt;    With these ideas and innovative styles Rohan can appeal to a large market of consumers. Including the range of objects Nicols makes. He creates household objects and accessories, like his Fanger design of a modern coathanger with a swivel top, or Handbag that is a combination of sleek shape and elementary colours.  and  &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7"&gt;Rohans&lt;/span&gt; work is very smooth in shape, form and texture. He sees himself as a craftsman as he undertakes the entire craftsmanship process from concept to development.&lt;br /&gt;  For his past exhibitions Rohan Nicols has used the name of UBLO,I must say a very original and unique name that directly reflects his design. As this design audit is to extract everything important, special and interesting about Nicols design I am going to probably stick with using his name so that people can recongnise and get to know Rohan on a more personal basis with how he treats his work and design process. This is quite appealing I would think to have your work displayed directly under your name so that it is instantly recognisable.UBLO is a good name but unless you are familiar with the work and Nicols himself you may not know he created the objects he has. So for broading the audience definately the name should be linked and expressed on the upcoming designs.&lt;br /&gt;  In my research I have noticed that alot of the successful industrial designers seem to make a statement with their logo.This is usually done by the name being quite bold and contrasted. I believe this would work well especially in grabbing attention to the products, as a very small soft logo would just pass in the breeze.Although not all of the logo and logotype should be too loud and garish as I am reflecting the personality of Nicols and his work in the overall identity which I dont believe he would fit into.&lt;br /&gt;  The type of consumer that would fit into Nicols catagory would most likely be in a city area,or one with interesting culture.As his designs are individual with that smooth organic look rather than say a traditional leather wallet the age group would also be slightly younger than most consumers in the household audience would be.&lt;br /&gt;  In closing Rohan Nicols is a craftsman in industrial design.The public need to know this and be familiar with his designs,to recognise them and the style in which they are made.      However by far the best piece of information I have learnt from the reading is schedules and deadlines.I need to organise my research and ideas alot better as deadlines are essential for the client due to payments and plans.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Reading 5&lt;br /&gt;Papress Text&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In this particular reading it shows direct use and formations of text, how it can be used and what all the expressions stand for. For example Hierachy-is the typographic organizational system for content in a hierachy style. It also includes the portrayal of the companies style or type. It is the graphical element such as a symbol or sign. A logotype is a uniquely arranged typeface usually used with the logo icon.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Corporate Identity&lt;br /&gt; It is the personality of a corporation and is based on objectives set by the client or company.Corporate culture uses their marketing tools to form a specific identity through style and familualarity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Reading2&lt;br /&gt;Branding&lt;br /&gt;A brand is a logo that is so known it is extremely common and familiar also usually ahead of its competitors. It needs to deliver a message, the best go against cultural grains and make statements.   Brands need to have a quick message, emotional experience, credibility and motivates. "Advertisement grabsl the mind, branding gets the heart."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Reading3&lt;br /&gt;Designing logos&lt;br /&gt;With Thomas Gs logo designs for the Childrens museum he was thouroughly focussed on the clients needs by considering what it would be used for. He created a trademark and a series of animated ones which linked to the trademark logo for the museum.&lt;br /&gt;       Using vivid, childlike colours in the animated or "playful marks" the identity of the museum starts to build.Also the "parental marks" which is the common or trademark of the client uses fingerprint textures in its design linking this mark with the coloured animated ones. He is very versatile in this work.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Metreon-Sony entertainment center&lt;br /&gt;The project of designing this logo had tobe sophisticated, played on typography, metaphors and needed to appeal to an international market. Also symbolises the city of San Francisco.
